Casino gaming doesn’t get much better than Single Deck Blackjack. It’s the best variant of the most popular casino banking game. When all else is equal, having fewer decks in blackjack leads to a lower house edge, so why play with eight decks when you can play One Deck Blackjack?
What is Single Deck Blackjack?
Single Deck Blackjack is blackjack played with one standard 52-card deck. Other variants include two (Double Deck Blackjack) or four to eight decks (standard Blackjack).
Single Deck Blackjack Rules
Single Deck Blackjack rules vary casino to casino, so we’ve covered the rules of one in our online casino.
- Single Deck Blackjack is played with one deck that’s shuffled after each round.
- The dealer must hit on soft 17 (a 17 with an 11-point Ace).
- Getting a 10-point card and Ace is a Blackjack, which pays 3-2.
- Getting a 10-point card and Ace after splitting isn’t a blackjack and doesn’t pay 3-2.
- You can purchase Insurance when the dealer’s upcard is an Ace. Insurance pays 2-1.
- You must bet a minimum of $1 and a maximum of $300 per round.
- You can split up to two hands, but split Aces receive only one card.
- You can Double any two cards.
Single Deck Blackjack Strategy
Learning Single Deck Blackjack basic strategy is all about memorizing strategy charts. We’ve included three charts that are customized to the Single Deck Blackjack offered in our casino: one for soft hands, one for splittable hands, and one for all other hands. To use it, compare the dealer’s upcard in the top column with your hand in the left-most row. “H” is for Hit, “D” is for Double, “S” is for Stand, and “Sp” is for Split.
